Giulio Stermieri

Giulio Stermieri is a pianist, keyboardist and composer.

In his path he combines the study of African-American piano, improvisation, and timbral research on his instruments and with electronics.

From 2012 to date he appears on around thirty records, ranging from jazz to more experimental projects; since 2023, he has been collaborating live and in the studio with singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Any Other.

His work is based on an investigation of the possible determinations of material on form, the political value of choices in language, and the tension of expectations between artist and audience.

These intimate convictions gave rise to Fort Da, an album released in 2023 by Maple Death Records; Ouroboros, soon to be released by Antinational Noise, ideally continues this research, in which the relationship with the Farfisa organ and the practice of sampling continue to suggest new expressive trajectories.

Solo and in a trio with Luca Dalpozzo (double bass) and Federico Negri (drums), Stermieri plays in the main Italian clubs, participates in sound experimentation festivals (Transmissions, Piedicavallo, Holydays, EX:IN, Sustain-Delay) and performs abroad in Austria, France, Germany, Portugal, Slovenia, UK and Malta.
