Spoken word / percussion duo A Minimal Pair (Nathan Gray, Pedro Almiro) use live processing and improvisation around pre-written texts to defy the conventions of conventional and unconventional musics.

Gray’s darkly garbled diaristic monologues-to-self, drawl through Almiro’s expertly anaesthetised, percussive anti-rhythms.

Scrunched-up shreds of signification appear and fizz away, flashes of drums are caught and stretched until all motoric is squeezed out.

The grain of the voice shuddering on the membrane of the drum.
